Lost African Grey- Feb 2006 - Martindale, Texas

Alejandra sent this in....

REWARD!
LOST PARROT!
She is an African Grey Parrot named "PICO".

PLEASE HELP! She really is our baby. She is all grey except for her short but bright red tail; she is about 10 inches tall. She flew west from Main St. Martindale, TX 78655, in front of the water plant, around 4:30pm on Thursday 16th. She is probably still in the Martindale or San Marcos area. She is unafraid of cats or dogs and may approach them.

We love her so much and have raised her from infancy.

Found Alexandrian - Florida - Feb 2006

West Palm Beach, Florida. Portofino at Lakes of Laguna

Found!!! Lost Alexandrian Parrot/Parakeet. Was hungry, so we fed him, was thirsty so he drank.

He/she is in our Timnehs cage right now. He is utterly scared, but is being taken care of. If we don't hear anything from owner by Friday we will take him to the avian vet for a full check up, if you claim the bird we may ask for compensation which is minor compared to a recovered companion. Full identification of critter will be required, he has some items that the owner should be aware of for ID'ing the bird. I hope he was not kicked out of home, if so, he has a new home with a husband and wife that will be more than glad to take over.

Parrot spotted Feb 2006 - Palm Springs

Kathy sent this...

I was walking my dog in Palm Springs today and I heard and saw a large parrot. It was mostly green with red and had a long tail. It was making a lot of noise. It came down and ate something off the road and went back in the trees.

I was it in South end of Palm Springs. It flew very well so I don't think it's wings had recently been clipped. It appeared in good health. I walked the same way last weekend and a man stopped his car and asked me if I had seen a parrot. He was certain he'd seen one. I think this bird is hanging out in this area. I was worried that someone might be missing their pet but have no idea how to capture such a bird.

My yellow-nape Amazon, Lola, flew away on 6/17/2005. I am deaf, and have been training her to be my assistance animal, and naturally I desire very much to have her back. If someone approaches you, trying to sell you a "found" parrot, or anything that you think I should know, please do let me know! She is a green parrot, with a yellow back of neck. Left front toe is missing. Many thanks

P.S. I did get some leads that points to Leesburg, VA as to where Lola might have been taken. I live in Washington, DC.

Found Amazon - England - Jan 2006

Sarah sent this....

A lady contacted me a week ago saying that she had a parrot in her garden. I went to have a look and it was an Amazon. I have been trying to catch it for a week and today I was lucky, it went into a cage that I had set up. The parrot has been in the ladies garden for over a month. It has been eatin the apples out of her tree and she just thought it was a squirrel. But then she saw the parrot last week.

The parrot in ringed, but I can't see the number as it is very scared and isn't sure about you going near it. It is in a cage with a cover over to keep it quite and calm. It's eating but, very thin.

Someone has also tried to cut the ring off by the look of it, so whether it has been stolen I don't know. I hope you can help me.
I have checked around the area and no one has reported it missing. Didn't want to put signs up as I think that people will say that it is theirs, with the area I live in.

I'm happy to keep the bird but if it is someones beloved pet then it needs to be reunited.

It is a green bird with red feathers in its tail, it has yellow by its eyes and a bit a blue, bit of yellow on its head.
It is use to people as it doesn't panic by flapping around when you go near it.
I can take some pictures if it helps, just wanted to let it settle first.

Sarah from huddersfield, west yorkshire

Lost Conure - California - Jan. 2006

Annette wrote...

I recently lost a Cherry Head Conure named Buddy in the Cypress Manor area of Sacramento, California. This is close to the Carmichael border near the intersections of Walnut and Cypress Avenues, Winding Way, and Gibbons Park.

Buddy somehow got out of the house the night of Dec. 22nd. No one has spotted him since. I've left his cage outside hoping he would recognize it in daylight if he was able to get airborn enough.

I've had him for about 7 years and he is approximately 7 1/2 - 8 years old. He says a few words one of which is a constant OKAY! He likes to bob his head around to rock or hip hop music. He can say his name and likes to say "night Buddy" when it's time for bed. His body is green with red on the head and white around the eyes. He has specks of red on his wings.

We miss him greatly and are hoping he's returned to us safely. There is a reward. Please post this note in hopes that someone may have found him and is looking for us. Thank you very much.

7 Stolen Parrots! - Los Angeles, California - Jan 2006

Anna wrote...

Everyone around Los Angeles CA area, please keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell my babies:

Last night, someone broke into my backyard aviary, stole 7 parrots, and Killed one. The birds taken were:
a pair of eclectus (Solomon male and possible RS/Sol mix female), 2 mexican red headed amazons (aka greencheek amazons); 2 whitefronted amazons (aka spectacled amazons) and 1 bluefront amazon.

They killed my beautiful Solomon Eclectus girl, Lili, and left her brother Lani very traumatized.(but thankfully safe!!)

The ekkie pair are semi tame, but sweet and still handleable. The 4 amazons I raised from babies, they are tame and can say a few words. The bluefront amazon is not 100% healthy - she had aspergillosis, still has breathing difficulties, and may need meds. I am afraid that in the wrong hands, she will end up dead.

I am guessing these thieves are not pro's, they only took the "easy to get" birds, and were unable to remove my biting bluefront male and his lady (good boy, Chico!), or my wild vos eclectus pair, or Lani.

Please, crosspost, get the word out to pet store owners, sellers, breeders. If anyone has any suggestions, or knows any "shady" shops or sellers (especialy downtown or east LA areas), please let me know. I have called every bird store I could find in the LA area, but every little bit helps. I am absolutely heartbroken, these are my babies...

What a heartbreaking story. If anyone has any information, contact ParrotsNow immediately!

Lost Amazon - California - Dec. 2005

On 12/26/05 we lost our Lilac Crowned Amazon Parrot from our Oceanside, Ca. home.

He is bright green in color, with a little tiny bit of blue on the top of the head, little bit of red above the beak and the very tips of the wings have some black and some color.

He likes to sing and whistle the tunes we have taught him including The Charge-Wolf Whistle, Pop Goes the Weasal, Dixie and more. Plus he likes to mimic my laughter and the poodle's whining. We are all very sad and are sick with worry regarding his well being. We are praying for a miracle.

Lost African Grey - Enterprise, Mississippi - Nov. 2005

Carla sent this in....

I have lost my best friend and baby. She is a beautiful Congo African Grey. I live in Enterprise, Mississippi which is in Clarke county.

I feel so bad, I thought I had her clipped and she flew off my hand while bringing her in from my front porch. This was about 1 week before Thanksgiving. Myself and my family have searched night & day for her for months. We saw her once and she was about 80 feet in the top of an oak tree and flew again and it was right at dusk.

She has a large vocabulary and loves to whistle the Andy Griffith tune. She is also able to mimic a horse and many wild birds. She calls our dog Roxie and says come here now!!!!! I miss her so much. My heart aches daily for her. Her pic and flyers have been put out all over clarke county and Meridian, Mississippi. There is a very large reward for her. If you have seen her or even if you think you might have seen her Please contact me !!!!! Her name is Shabala and I miss her so much.

Any info, contact ParrotsNow and we'll let Carla know right away.
