We live in Loxahatchee, Florida. My husband takes him for 'walks' every afternoon. Today for some reason he just took off. There was no reason. Nothing scared him he just flew away. Lost African Grey - Canyon Lake, California - January 8, 2007Sandra wrote...I lost my African Grey on January 8, 2007. His wings were clipped (apparently not enough), as there was a strong breeze that just seem to carry him.coba I was right behind him but lost sight of him immediately. I have been crying for almost three weeks now. I can't believe I lost my beloved Kobe. On Monday, January 8, 2007, I was sitting on my deck in Canyon Lake, Ca, with my African Grey perched on my knee. Kobe is six years old and did have his wings clipped although I had noticed one feather on one side had grown back and I had actually been thinking that I needed to cut it. As I started to stand up I apparently startled him as he immediately took off. I didn't think he would fly far as he had never flown off the deck before, but this time he did and the day, although warm, was quite breezy. By the time I ran down the stairs and look towards where I had seen him glide on a downward flight he was gone. He was headed toward the lake which is very close to us (a block away). There were huge trees that I believed were in his path and I immediately checked that area and the lake area. Across the lake is a development of homes called Temescal Hills. I have know idea if he made it over there or circled around and stayed in the lake area. A reward is offered to anyone who finds him. We miss him so much.
