Found Alexandrian? Parrot - Darlington, Western Australia - June 4, 2007

Josephine wrote...

Today a very exotic looking bird came to feed on our deck. It's quite tame and flew onto my shoulder when I called it. It was being harrassed a bit by all the other birds (galahs and magpies) and doesn't seem to fly all that well, although its wings don't appear to be clipped. It might just be tired. Anyway, it's now in a cage inside our house and I'm doing my best to care for it. I'm pretty sure it's a young Alexandrian parakeet. If we didn't have two dogs and two cats I would keep it and learn how to care for it, but the thought that someone is missing it really gets to me. If you know whose it might be, please get in touch.

In the meantime, can someone tell me how far can these birds travel? Can they cross oceans or is it more likely to be a local pet? I've never seen a parrot like it before.

Lost Alexandrian Green Parrot - Parsippany, New Jersay - May 27, 2007

AJ wrote...

Please help us find our loving lost Parrot. His name is Shiva and was the life of the household, he took off after playing outside with his partner (another parrot). Shiva is a Alexandrian Green parrot about foot and a half long including the tail with red marks on his wings. He has a band on his foot, a red beak and a very loud screem.

He took off at 8pm on Monday evening (5/27/07) from our house on Garfield Rd, Parsippany NJ. We fear he will not be able to survive on his own in the wild as he was very closely bonded to humans and doesnt know anything about survival. We also fear his partner may suffer/die due to the loss as they have been together since birth. If you have seen or heard him in the Lake Parsippany area please contact ParrotsNow, it will be greatly appreciated.

Lost Cockatiel - Avenel, New Jersey - May 23, 2007

Stephanie wrote...

I know this may be a foolish thing to do, but I usually have my pet cockatiel ( A cinnamon-gray), named Tickles on my shoulder or my hand for a few minutes, and stand on my back patio when I get back from work. Yesterday (May 23, 2007) was no different. Except for the fact that he may have been startled by the sound of a screen door shutting. My dear cockatiel flew high into the trees and there was no way that I could get to him.

I have walked back and forth in hopes that I would find him. Tickles is about 8 months old, but he looks fully grown. He has clipped wings and bright orange patches on the sides of his cheeks. He's very friendly and likes whistling sounds. If anyone in the area of Evergreen Forest Complex or in the Town of Woodbridge and Carteret should see such a bird, PLEASE, PLEASE Contact me through ParrotsNow. I would be most grateful.

LOST: SEVERE MACAW

She is about a foot and a half in length and is crowned with a line of chestnut colored feathers across the forehead above her black beak. Her plumage is primarily metallic / shiny shades of green, and the crown is a light blue. The shoulders ( mostly undersides ) are red with a bit of blue. Blue flight and tail feathers with red undersides.

Her bare facial patch exhibits delicate feather lines, around her eyes that have an orange iris, the chin is dark reddish brown, and the underside of the tail is a dark chestnut color. The bill is black and the feet are dark gray.

Lost in the vicinity of:
South Andrews Avenue and South East 20th Street
Fort Lauderdale, Florida. That area is:

North of Fort Lauderdale International Airport & 595 & State Road 84 / West of U.S.1 / South of 17th Street Causeway and Broward General Hospital.

She is fully flighted. It was a real windy day and there is no telling how far or which direction she took. She has a cage mate that needs her, he is partially disabled. The whole flock misses her and needs her back. Any information that leads to her return will be rewarded.

Please call ParrotsNow if you can help.
